WMS Gaming’s History
WMS gaming originated in the 1940’s as a pinball manufacturer. The company was founded by Harry Williams who used his engineering background to develop the first “tilt” unit for pinball machines.
The games produced by Williams Manufacturing Company later became produced by the well known Midway games that had many hits in video arcades both with pinball titles and alter with video games as well and they continue to provide titles to video arcades today. Williams Gaming split from Midway and has since changed their name to WMS Gaming to keep up with the times and improve their brand image.
As Williams Gaming, they have come a long way since the 1940’s pinball machines by providing different types of casino gaming devices. One of the first machines they produces related to gambling were video lottery terminals in the late 1980’s. In the early nineties, Williams Gaming produced video poker machines first then finally entered the slot machine market place.
Their first hit was in 1996, with a video slot machine called Reel ‘em in. This machine was a very innovative product, shunning the traditional mechanic machine, with limited themes, and starting fresh with new symbols and game play that included the first multi-line game as well as multiple coin games with secondary bonuses.
One of the things that set WMS gaming apart from other casino gaming manufacturers is their titles.
